Will Ferguson’s police chief be next?
August 9, 2014: Ferguson cop Darren Wilson kills black teenager Michael Brown. Later that evening, a cop allows his dog to urinate on a makeshift memorial, inflaming gathering crowds.
August 10-12, 2014: Police respond to protests by deploying armored vehicles, SWAT teams, police in riot gear, aiming guns at protesters, and firing tear gas and rubber bullets into generally peaceful crowds.
August 13, 2014: Police brutalize and arrest journalists covering Ferguson protests. According to Wikipedia, “Tom Jackson, the Ferguson police chief denied any suppression of the media. U.S. President Barack Obama addressed the First Amendment violations, saying … ‘police should not be bullying or arresting journalists who are just trying to do their jobs and report to the American people on what they see on the ground.’”
August 14, 2014: Missouri’s governor assigns Missouri State Police to take over crowd control from Ferguson and St. Louis County police.
November 14, 2014: Jackson tells the media he’ll return Wilson to duty “immediately” if he isn’t indicted.
November 24, 2014: Grand jury refuses to indict Wilson.
March 5, 2015: U.S. Department of Justice issues scathing report on Ferguson police department.
March 6, 2015: Two of Ferguson’s senior police commanders resign for sending racist e-mails. The city’s court clerk was fired earlier in the week for the same reason. The mayor refuses to speculate about Jackson’s future and says, “He’s still the chief.” I don’t see how he can remain in that position after what’s happened on his watch.
Ferguson heads roll for racist emails
“Two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri, resigned Thursday over racist emails discovered during the U.S. Department of Justice investigation of the police department, city spokesman Jeff Small said on Friday, citing the city attorney. Small identified the officers as Rick Henke and William Mudd. Also on Friday, Small said the city’s top court clerk, Mary Ann Twitty was fired earlier this week in the wake of the DOJ report release,” CNN reported this afternoon.

Indiana Governor: The law stays
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says Indiana’s “religious freedom” law isn’t about discriminating against gays, calling that “misinformation,” but when George Stephanopolous asked him 6 “yes or no” questions about whether it legalizes discrimination against gays, Pence refused to answer 6 times. Then he said, “We are not going to change this law.”
Pence says the law is about “protecting citizens from government overreach.” In other words, he doesn’t believe persecuted groups or individuals should expect the law to protect them. Carried to its logical conclusion, this philosophy also would eliminate the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and all other laws against discrimination.

150 years after the North won the war, isn’t it time for these Southern states to pay their own way?
Interesting Maine is almost as dependent as South Carolina! Wasn’t Maine a Union state?
You can see the whole thing here on Huff Post! Hell the Marshal plan for Europe ended in 1951! The weirdest part is that while Germany paid repartitions, the Southern states actually tried to get repartitions for the loss of their slaves!
Isn’t it time for these Southern states to pay their own way?
This GOP state legislator is so toxic, his own party demoted him
Indiana Republicans cut their own economic throats by legalizing discrimination against gays
The backlash has already started. Organizations from the NCAA to big companies are reassessing their relationships with the State of Indiana. This isn’t about sentimentality or corporations suddenly getting a conscience and caring about human rights. These are hard-headed business decisions. They believe exposing their employees and customers to a toxic social environment is very bad for their businesses. This is going to cost Indiana businesses serious bucks. For example, sports tournaments and business conventions are big business in Indianapolis — among other things, that city is hosting the 2015 NCAA Final Four tournament — and that business is in jeopardy.
The Republican legislators who passed this law, and the Republican governor who signed it, frame the issue in terms of “religious freedom.” But everyone understands that what this law really does is legalize discrimination against gays in places of business. For the person on the getting end of such discrimination, being refused service in a restaurant or other business doesn’t look or feel like religious freedom, it feels like bigotry and being victimized.
Moreover, the potential victims are limited to gays. Image you’re a professional or business person, and you’ve invited an important client or prospective customer to lunch. You’re both married, have kids, are good family men, go to church, have solid reputations in the community. To you, walking into a restaurant together for a routine business lunch is just part of a day’s work. But the owner sees two men together, assumes you’re a couple, and refuses to serve you and orders you to leave his establishment, offering no explanation. What does your client or potential customer think of you now? It makes a terrible impression, is very uncomfortable and awkward for the other person and leaves him wondering what the hell is going on, and there’s a very good chance you’re going to lose that client or customer. No professional or business person wants to risk being put in that position.
What’s more, who wants to raise their kids in a social environment like that? This is what the companies now reacting to this new law are talking about. How can they ask their employees to live in Indiana now? What are Indiana’s chances of getting companies to locate their headquarters operations there, or keep the ones they have, now that the state has passed a law that encourages nasty, narrow-minded, intolerant people to openly inflict their bigotry on anyone they suspect of being gay?
What Indiana’s stupid Republican legislators and governor have done is make Indiana an undesirable place to live, work, and do business. And they’re going to pay for it. So will the countless businesses in that state, large and small, whose businesses will suffer because of their state government’s actions. Even if they see the light and repeal the law, the damage has already been done, and may prove irreversible.
Police union leader asserts judges are required to believe cops
A Portland, Oregon, police union spokesman thinks judges don’t have authority to acquit falsely accused suspects or conclude from video recordings that the cops are lying.

APARTHEID IN WA. STATE
Liberals and conservatives in WASTATE think this is a liberal state. Data like this, however, argue otherwise.
It seems to me that the State and especially Seattle have effectively spread cosmetics over our problem by creating affluent, self satisfied mainstream communities while African Americans, Native Americans and Hispanics live in our version of Bantustans.
Ferguson shooting suspect’s lawyer says cops arrested the wrong man
The lawyer for the man accused of shooting two Ferguson police officers two weeks ago claimed todayhis client is innocent and the real shooter is still at large. Jerryl Christmas, attorney for Jeffrey Williams, asserted Williams didn’t have a gun, didn’t fire a gun, and didn’t tell anyone that he did. Prosecutors claim Williams admitted firing a gun to investigators but said he was aiming at someone else. But police claim Williams told an informant he was the shooter. They don’t have their stories straight; are they lying?
Photo: The only thing we know for sure about this man is that the cops beat him up (see facial bruises and lacerations). Did they pound on the wrong guy? It wouldn’t be the first time in American history that a black man was blamed for something he didn’t do.
That was a Ferguson cop joking about the President of the United States in an email to a municipal court employee explaining why Obama wouldn’t be president very long, according to a Justice Department report released Wednesday, the Guardian reported.
At this point the email’s author isn’t identified, but following release of the report, Ferguson’s mayor held a press conference — which the police chief inexplicably didn’t attend — and announced that a police department employee has been fired and two others placed on administrative leave pending investigation of that and several other racist emails.
The DOJ’s scathing report found “egregious evidence of mistreatment of African American citizens by the police,” and outlined a pattern of systematic racism in the white-run city, whose population is predominantly black and poor. Ferguson’s all-white police force and municipal court system exploit and discriminate against blacks, who account for most of the city’s tickets, fines, and arrests.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder described Ferguson as “a community where local authorities consistently approached law enforcement not as a means for protecting public safety, but as a way to generate revenue” and “numerous constitutional violations by their law enforcement officials including First Amendment abuses, unreasonable searches and seizures, and excessive and dangerous use of force; exacerbated by severely disproportionate use of these tactics against African Americans,” according to CBS News.
I think the situation calls for a radical housecleaning. DOJ should sue in federal court to have city administration placed in court-supervised receivership, dissolve the police department and municipal courts and have those functions contracted to the county (similar to what several King County, Washington, suburbs do), overhaul the city’s finances and revenue generating system, and enforce the Voting Rights Act to protect the rights of Ferguson’s black citizens to register and vote.

Radical Republicans: Violence Against Hindus.
(based on material from the Hindu) Last Tuesday, back over Washington’s Eastern border, the Idaho Senate was opened by a Hindu prayer in Sanskrit and English. Society of Hinduism president Rajan Zed gave the prayer after being invited by Senate President Pro-Tem Brent Hill.
Four Republican Senators walked out. Senator Steve Vick walked out of the Senate saying that that Hindu prayers should not be allowed because the U.S. was “built on the Judeo-Christian, not only religion, but work ethic, and I don’t want to see that undermined.” Hindus “have a caste system,” he added. “They worship cows.” Senator Sheryl Nuxoll said she boycotted Mr. Zed’s prayer because she believed the United States is a Christian nation and “Hindu is a false faith with false gods,” according to the newspaper.
The Statesman quoted Mr. Zed as saying of the protests: “We don’t mind. Hinduism is more embracing.”
Idaho borders Washington State, where two Hindu temples were vandalised last month. The second attack occurred the same week that an influential Christian fundamentalist preacher, Pat Robertson, said on his TV show that Hindu prayer “sounds like gibberish.”
A former candidate for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, he had earlier called Hinduism “demonic.”
Ferguson rogue’s gallery
If you’re interested, this article delves into who the bad guys are in America’s most infamous municipality. There’s so much more to this story than the issue of Darren Wilson’s guilt or innocence. DOJ’s verdict: Wilson is innocent, but Ferguson is a pit of racism and corruption. “While it’s great that Mary Ann Twitty has been fired, at least three more Ferguson executives cited in the DOJ report still remain on the job.”
Photo: “In the picture above, you are looking at former Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, two months before he killed Mike Brown [blue shirt and cap, top center], with his hands around Mary Ann Twitty, the top court clerk in Ferguson [black dress, crouching], who was cited in the DOJ report over and over and over again for racism and corruption. She was the first person fired by Ferguson Mayor James Knowles. While she dismissed tickets and citations for white judges and friends, she pushed and pushed for every penny of every fine to be paid by African Americans every chance she got. She sent flagrantly racist emails openly to her colleagues as if they all must have shared her beliefs.”
