Introduction to Economics and Economists versus Real Political Economy: Capitalism and its Theories and Theorists (A New Sub-Blog)

This sub-Blog entitled Economics and Economists: Capitalism and its Theories and Theorists will feature various meme media (videos, essays, photos, news stories, symbolism such as in art and literature, bumperstickers, protest signs, film, music, etc) That reveal not only the difference between “Economics” and “Political Economy”(generic) but between Political Economy (“Heterodox” and non-Marxist) and Marxist Political Economy which was the subject of my last two papers presented to the International Symposium on the Development and Innovation of Marxist Economics. Or I will be embedding the videos of others such as this and others from Econ4 and other sites from diverse perspectives in order to fairly and honestly present and contrast various “paradigms” in Economics, Heterodox “Political Economy” and Marxism which includes a Core Political Economy as part of a larger system of dialectically unified and integrated [Theory Praxis] that is employed in the course of not only interpreting the world in various ways but in helping to change it.

This sub-blog guided by 3 Core principles as manifested in these three quotations from Karl Marx:

“The Philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways; the point, however, is to change it.” (Karl Marx 11th Thesis on Feuerbach and part of inscription on the grave of Karl Marx at High gate Cemetery in London)

“If the construction of the future and its completion for all time is not our task, all the more certain is what we must accomplish in the present; I mean, the ruthless criticism of everything that exists; the criticism being ruthless in the sense that it does not fear its own result and does not fear conflict with the powers-that-be.” (Karl Marx letter to Arnold Ruge 1843)

“Ce qu’il y a de certain c’est que moi, je ne suis pas Marxiste.’”
( Karl Marx- Letter to Bernstein, 1882.)

For example we may use JPG-Memes (A Meme is an idea or notion or construct that acts like a virus to transmit and provoke thought whether in general, or on a particular topic or on a particular topic and from a certain perspective)

An illustration of the construct of “Opportunity Cost”: The true cost of anything according to Neoclassical Economics (NC) or what is called “Mainstream Economics” (MSE) is the value of what one gave up in NOT pursuing the next-best alternative to the given course of action that has been chosen and pursued This illustrates the concept of “trade-off and derivative “Choice” central to all Economics and considered in Political Economy. In “MSE” “Scarcity (origin of Econ) —> Trade-offs —> Choices .

For this obedience is the law of our being. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
